Just allow your senses to take it all in. All things, small & big.

It sounds cliche, but it really is important to appreciate the simple things in life.

A couple of weeks ago, post-wine binge, and after a little coloring session in a Spongebob coloring book, my roommate turned to me and said: "You know, I've always admired how much you appreciate and adore the little things. Like, you just got so stoked on that picture of Spongebob chasing Squidward with bubbles that I colored for you." It sounds ridiculous, but it's true. I really was excited. My lips turned up in excitement and with a grin-covered face, I jumped up and expressed true gratitude for the fact that she had colored me a picture. The next day, I started noticing the way I notice simple little things in life. I love finding something interesting about someone or something no one has thought twice about. It's like having your own little discovery; a discovery that you can appreciate, and show others they can appreciate too. Sometimes, all it takes is stopping and smelling the roses. Literally. Unless you live in the desert. Then, I'm just sorry because I know from first-hand experience that cacti does not have the most smell-provoking aroma. But, in all seriousness, it is very much not likely that the roses you see get smelled on a regular basis. They work so hard to bloom, then when they do, not only do they show off unfathomable natural beauty but they produce a wonderful scent that everyone should learn to appreciate. So, please - for the sake of mother nature and your own personal leisure, please smell the roses sometimes. If you appreciate them, they'll appreciate you.
